Health Insurance Crisis

Amazing how we in this state as well as the entire country has all of a sudden come into a health care crisis, but individuals need to wonder if it is really a crisis. New York has a number of health programs in place while working closely with the various insurance companies. The great state of New York has really gone out of its way through the legislation to re-vamp many of the insurance programs to offer aid to the multitude of residents without medical care and devoid of medical insurance because of the expense.

The state as well as the entire country has been in dire straights for a number of years now but does the entire health industry need to be re-vamped or does it just need a bit of tweaking to get it back on track. Individuals who do not have any health insurance are those individuals usually between nineteen years of age and twenty-one years of age.

This is in part because once a child reaches nineteen years old the child is no longer on their parent’s insurance policy that they were probably on since birth. Why an individual such as a child, must leave the family insurance policy is questionable at best. Unless the child is enrolling in full time college courses the cut-off is nineteen.

Of course it would make sense if the health insurance policy premium was to increase to keep the child on the parent’s insurance policy, but why must they leave? One could conclude that it is partly the fault of the insurance companies that there are so many nineteen year olds to twenty-one year olds on the street today without any affordable health insurance coverage.

When a child turns nineteen years of age it does not mean they are moving out of the home they grew up. This cause much distress on the parents because now they are the ones on the front line who must now find low cost health insurance for their child and it is just another added expense that the parents are not always able to afford.

Of course there always has been a reason why health insurance is so expensive and now with all the added technology the costs are out of control. Trying to utilize the young and healthy in order to subsidize for the elderly or senior citizens is not the best way to go and time is on the side of collapse.
